Book Review

The title for this short is what caught my eye and made me want to read it. Once I discovered that Ethan owns his own design firm in California and his partner, Toby, spends his days appraising and restoring antiques, then the slyness of the title hit me. Very apt and very adorable.

Ethan and Toby have been living together for two years and the love, and passion, is just as strong as always. Except there's something each of them wants but they haven't shared it with the other. Ethan works too much so when Toby springs flight tickets home to Minneapolis for the holidays, Ethan's first instinct is to refuse. Toby subtly works his magic and Ethan figures out a way to get his projects done before Christmas Eve.

What was supposed to be a relaxing vacation for the two of them - except the time Ethan puts in working - becomes anything but as Ethan keeps waking alone while Toby and the rest of the family are off gallivanting around every day. It's bad enough Ethan is going to have to sit through his sister's vow renewal when he really wants that to be Toby and him, but the secrets are making him bonkers. Personally, I didn't blame him.

Oh what a delightful story with a perfect ending! I loved how the author brought it all together.
