Book Review

Oh, this book is such a treat! From the just about perfect title to a return of the well-known characters from book one – with a few excellent additions – and the touching romance, I was entertained from beginning to end. The Dead and Breakfast, nestled in the mountains, is back in full force and as much a character as its very diverse supernatural inhabitants and visitors.

Tom is the werewolf who was bitten and had enormous trouble figuring out how to shift in the previous book. He’s all settled now, but lives far away in Texas. But when Tanner and the crew at the Dead & Breakfast need Tom’s help with a rogue wolf, Tom returns without a second thought. What he finds is very disquieting, but with lots of patience, he manages to coax the wolf into trusting him enough for feeding and, eventually, even shifting back into a man.

Nathan is a full werewolf, but he has been traumatized by a cruel kidnapper. He lost his memory and it’s painful to try to remember what happened. Finding out that Tom is his mate goes a long way toward Nathan wanting to become human again, at least part of the time. But just when he is beginning to settle in and trust enough to be comfortable, disaster strikes yet again…

It takes everyone at the Dead & Breakfast to get Nathan back. A magpie named Ed isn’t just adorable, he is instrumental in finding Nathan. Carter and Fallon, the vampiric catshifter couple, are back, as is Tanner, the bearshifter. I am hoping his or Ed’s story is next!

If you like romances with a dose of supernatural behaviors and situations, if you want to see two men deal with the complications that come with a traumatic past, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read that is as funny as it is suspenseful, then you will probably like this novel as much as I do. I look forward to the next tale set in the Dead & Breakfast very soon!
