Roman is a hunter, tasked with finding and eliminating those who break the laws set down in a treaty between the humans and the paranormals. After being held captive and tortured for months, he's more than ready to track down the one man he couldn't stop thinking about. It was just too bad Seth wasn't where he left him.

Wolf shifter Seth Connelly has a deep hatred of hunters. In his mind, they have done nothing but kill his kind for centuries. He fully believes that every last one of them needs to be wiped from the earth. When he meets an attractive man in a local bar and takes him home for the night, Seth never dreams that the man he spends the night with is his mate—and a hunter.

Vampire Casey is sent to deliver a message to a wolf shifter hiding out in the mountains. Before he can reach his destination, he's attacked. He shows up on Seth's doorstep, bloody and bruised, and never dreaming fate had a plan for him even he couldn't imagine.

Standing on different sides of a war that is quickly coming, Roman, Seth, and Casey have to learn to put their hatred aside and work together to eliminate a new threat to them all. Failure to do so could mean more than their lives. It could mean the end of everything, including the growing love that neither of them can deny...but sometimes, hatreds run very deep.

Book Review

It’s been quite a while since the last story in this series was published and, to be honest, at the time it felt as if it might be the final volume. Lucky for me it turns out I was wrong – and I dove into this sixth book with anticipation and curiosity about what might be next for the vampires, shifters, and the humans who hunt them in a world where paranormals are known to exist but are far from tolerated by everyone. In this series, Stormy Glenn takes the (supposedly) age-old enmity between werewolves and vampires as the core issue, then mates men from opposing camps in various combinations – just to see what happens, I suspect. It’s not all as serious as it sounds because, as harsh as some of what happens is, the overall tone of these novellas is funny, enjoyable, and adventurous. This is mainly due to the characters and what they get up to, and the three men at the center of ‘Fate and Forgiveness’ fascinated and delighted me as much as the previous ones did.

Seth is a wolf shifter with issues – he hates hunters for killing his kind, he has done some things he is less than proud of, and about the only thing that is working for him is solitude and the fact that his books are being published. Roman is a human hunter keen on making sure the laws ensuring paranormal peace are kept, he is still recovering from months of captivity and torture, and he carries a torch for Seth despite Seth’s rejection when he found out Roman is a hunter. Casey is a young vampire who broke my heart – rejected at birth and never adopted, all he wants is a home and someone to love, but when he is rescued by Seth and knows the shifter is his mate, Seth rejects him too.

Between three such complicated men, a ton of misunderstandings, and danger from rogue hunters always around the corner, this is quite an adventure. There is a lot of angst and real pain for everyone before they figure out each of them has two mates. Even once they do things are not easy, but I think that Casey had the hardest burden to bear. His determination not to give up and keep going is admirable. He deserved his happy ending – and I only wish I’d gotten to see more of it!

If you like paranormal matings that are anything but straightforward, if you think a wolf shifter, a human hunter, and a vampire can figure out how to make a life together work, and if you’re looking for an exciting adventure with lots of emotions and some very hot bedroom encounters, then you will probably like this novella as much as I do.
