Former Marine Percy “Champ” Champion has never encountered a problem he can’t handle. Flying bullets? Daring rescues? Building Champion Security from the ground up? Making people seriously regret using his hated first name? No problem. He’s gotten the job done without a hitch each and every time.
But it turns out there are some situations Champ can’t handle alone, like:
• Going undercover as a wedding planner to retrieve some missing cartel data in time to avert an international crisis.
• Keeping his jerk of an ex from threatening his business.
• Preventing Quinn Taffet, Licking Thicket’s gorgeous, charming new wedding planner—and Champ’s fake fiancé—from getting into danger… or from getting the wrong idea about their relationship.
• Fighting the pull that lands him in Quinn’s bed night after night, despite his very best intentions.
• Stopping the pun-happy matchmakers of the Thicket from destroying the sane, well-ordered life he’s built for himself.
• And, most troubling of all, protecting his traitorous heart from all the romance in the air.
In short, Champ needs an extraction plan ASAP before he finds himself well and truly… hitched.
“Seriously, why did the universe make the hot ones so damn annoying?” ~ Quinn
When I first met Percy Champion (Champ) in ‘Hijacked’, I knew that the man he ended up with was going to be someone special. Quinn is all of that and then some. He’s feisty and confident with no problem going head-to-head with Champ. These two men give off some serious electric vibes and watching them fall in love was a joy.
Champ may have been born into a Nashville blue blood family, but his mother came from Licking Thicket, so when he decided to open his security company it stood to reason he’d do it in the place he considers home. Of course, the fact he has nothing to do with Nashville “society” might have had something to do with that decision. Champ is a self-made man who doesn’t rely on anything but what he’s earned through his own hard work. He’s grumpy, impatient, doesn’t take sh*t from anyone, and truly believes that when he says jump people should ask how high.
Quinn, however, only believes in taking orders in the bedroom, and all other times he will do as he pleases. He has worked hard for his events/wedding planning business, particularly after his “partner” in Nashville ejected him from the business they started together. It’s all good… Quinn is making a name for himself and starting over in the town he spent so many summers at.
Quinn and Champ were supposed to be a one-night stand. Except twenty-eight-night-stands later has them both in serious denial as to what is going on. Throw in Champ’s undercover search for a rare Horn of Glory game controller that has hidden cartel data, and his fake fiancé role with Quinn… well, as usual Licking Thicket is going nuts with all the zaniness. The puns, of course, continue outrageously, and the fact that Champ despises puns only adds to the overall humor.
This second installment in the series is just as fabulous as the first. I love this town and all of the characters. ‘Hitched’ is an action-packed, romantic rollercoaster filled with all the best these authors do so wonderfully. I can’t wait until the next one!
