Book Blurb

Apprenticed to the infamous Necromancer of Boston while on the brink of death, Daniel Macavoy has seen a lot of upheaval in his life since that fateful day. Rescued from an abusive father and the monster he was once enslaved by, Daniel has struggled with the traumas that scarred his heart and mind.

Yet with the love and support of his found family, Daniel has become stronger than he ever imagined. A capable sorcerer, he's been entrusted with the ancestral home of the Salvatores, the legendary site of the Massacre that brought an end to the centuries-long Blood Wars between the Salvatores and the Macavoys. The huge Mansion is a testament to old-school magic, high sorcery, and comes with a history almost as impressive as the enigmatic fae warrior who calls the gardens home.

A member of the nearly extinct High Court Sidhe, Rory remembers when humans climbed down from trees and learned to stand upright. After eons spent hand in hand with his twin, Cian, Rory was struck down by a near-fatal sword blow; he slept for centuries only to be resurrected by the Necromancer of Boston. Once awakened, Rory lost his twin to a mortal prison, sentenced for heinous crimes committed in an effort to save Rory while he slept.

Once worshipped as a god, Rory Brennan is learning what it means to exist in a modern mortal world. Rory finds that for the very first time, true love has found its way into his immortal heart. Daniel and Rory grow closer, love springing to life in the narrowing space between them. But their nascent bond is threatened by strangers attempting to break into the Mansion, and by the ever-growing danger to Rory's twin Cian, locked in the depths of Blackguard Prison.

With the danger increasing from all sides, Daniel and Rory struggle to balance surviving with falling in love. A dragon with a growth spurt isn't helping matters, and his mentor's watchful eye makes things both more awkward and potentially lethal.

Book Review

A young sorcerer whose affinity hasn’t made itself known yet and a millennia-old High Court sidhe star in this fifth volume of ‘The Beacon Hill Sorcerer’. There are mystery, thrills, romance, a baby dragon going through a growth spurt, and love for the ages.

Daniel Macavoy was saved by Angel in the first installment of this series, and it was the singular best moment of his life, until he met Ruairí (Rory) Brennan. The Macavoy family and their allies were the ones who began the Blood War against the Salvatore clan, and it lasted for hundreds of years until Angel ended it in one fell swoop. Daniel was only ten when the war came to an end and he was left with a father going insane while the rest of his family, who were still alive, were imprisoned. A horrible childhood for a sensitive young man. Daniel can’t believe his fate when Angel saves him and he becomes his apprentice. Daniel had been abused horribly by a vampire and made to perform magics that, under the law, could have seen him imprisoned or put to death. Instead, he becomes the Necromancer of Boston’s apprentice and finally gets a teacher he can love and respect.

Rory and his twin, Cian, are sidhe and as such have been around since the dawn of time. They were fighting with the revolutionaries against Britain when Rory was fatally stabbed in the heart. In order to save his twin, the other half of his soul, Cian put Rory into stasis while he tried to find someone who could help. Unfortunately, almost a couple of hundred years without his brother had Cian committing heinous acts to save Rory. It wasn’t until Angel and Simeon were tracking a serial killer that this all came to light and Angel was able to save Rory. Cian accepted full responsibility for his actions and was placed in the supernatural prison for a sentence of a thousand years. Of course, humans and even the supernatural have no true understanding of the fae and their magics, so it’s truly only Cian’s honor that keeps him in the cell.

Whew! A lot going on in these books, and ‘Love Springs Eternal’ saw a return of the High Council of Sorcery, some former troublemakers, and an attack against Daniel and the twins. All of that was fascinating and intriguing, but what truly kept me glued to the pages is the love story between Daniel and Rory. And the made family that has developed between Angel, Simeon, Issac, Constans, Milly, Daniel, Rory, and even Cian.

Daniel falls in love with gentle Rory almost from the start and he believes there’s no possible way that this gorgeous fae could ever think of him as anything more than a friend. Well, Rory is just as much in love with the young sorcerer. It takes them a little bit of time to find their way but it was lovely and beautiful to watch. A true balm to the soul. There’s laughter and love mixed in with some hairy situations, and Eroch getting bigger!

I’m anxiously awaiting the next book because I can’t wait to see what happens when the Council tries to exert its influence over Angel and the entire Salvatore family… of which there are a few more than there were at the beginning of this series… nope, not telling. This is a series I can highly recommend for any lover of urban fantasy.
