Book Blurb

Yarn shop owner and ex-soldier Noah Miller never looks forward to the Christmas season. At least this year the break coincides with Hanukkah. But before his vacation, he has to survive the December rush.

When virgin knitter Finley Mason comes into the store desperate for yarn, needles, and lessons so he can win a bet against Hazel, a woman who must be his wife, Noah agrees to help him despite his better judgment—he usually hates teaching.

As the deadline to finish his roommate’s scarf looms, Finley falls in love with the reclusive shopkeeper, and he tries his best to woo Noah with all the magic of New York City at Christmastime. Noah could easily be swept away—if only Finley wasn’t straight and taken….

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2019 Advent Calendar "Homemade for the Holidays."

Book Review

Some people are crafters and others are not. I fall very heavily into the latter group. So even though my roommate very much is, we could never have a bet going like Finley and his roommate, Hazel, do. They are both artists in their own right: Finley is a painter while Hazel is a serious knitter, and in the scope of a conversation over whose art is more difficult the bet was placed. This is how Finley ends up in Noah’s yarn store begging for lessons so he can knit a respectable scarf for Hazel for Christmas.

Now, Hazel is a frequent visitor to Noah’s shop and according to her, Noah is a grumpy, rude curmudgeon who never answers with anything other than a grunt. Finley isn’t convinced because he is completely smitten with Noah right from the start. Noah, however, is a little confused as to how this adorable and very straight man convinced him to help him knit for his wife. Of course, this is a misunderstanding but a legitimate one that understandingly brought a bit of angst to both men before everything is said and done.

I was 100 percent charmed by this story. These two men are absolutely perfect for one another and my only complaint is I sure wish it was longer as I’d love to watch them move forward. Unfortunately, I wasn’t charmed so much that I felt the need to run right out and learn how to knit. *grins*
