Tate is hardworking and financially struggling, bringing up his siblings on his own. A suspected saboteur at work is his latest challenge, but now he also has a clueless, though very attractive, new intern. There’s an immediate spark between the ill-matched couple, until a shocking accident cuts short Alex’s amateur sleuthing.

While recovering in the generous care of Tate and his family, will Alex realize what belonging really means? Passion and pride come together to fight for the company they’re both committed to preserving, but can a personal bond remain when the dust settles?

Book Review

A millionaire going undercover is a pretty unusual idea – but in the scenario that Clare London has come up with, it works. Alex is the second son who was never really involved in the family-owned wine business until he decides it is time he do his part, talks to HR to find out what position he might qualify for, and comes up with a plan to help figure out who is sabotaging one of their warehouses. What follows is an adventure on many levels as Alex faces the first real challenge of his life when he poses as an intern, meets Tate and his family, and deals with one surprise after the other. The previous books in this series have been a great combination of suspense and emotion, with a major side serving of humor, and I am happy to report that this third volume follows the same “recipe” that makes for wonderful entertainment.

At first glance, Alex is simply spoiled. He has never had to work for his allowance, his older brother is the “golden child” who does everything right, and Alex is mostly bored since he has not found a purpose in life. But when his father tells Alex that he is no longer expected to even try to make an appearance at the monthly management meetings, Alex decides it is time he “do his bit” and figure out how to make a contribution to the family business – his own way! Alex may not be the “traditional” son who does everything by the book, but he has skills, and he is determined to use them.

Tate could not be more different from Alex in more ways than one. He is raising his three younger siblings after they lost their parents, has an elderly grandmother to take care of, and the financial stress that puts him under is almost too much. His best friend, a wonderful woman who supports him by helping out, is after him to take some time off, have some fun, and find a boyfriend – as if Tate had time for all that. Adding a saboteur at work and now an inexperienced intern to the list is not helping – but Tate is the kind of man who doesn’t shy away from a challenge. He is determined to figure out who is stealing from the company that means everything to him, he just doesn’t know whom to trust.

Alex and Tate are attracted to each other from the moment they meet, but neither feels comfortable with giving in to the attraction – not at first. Once some trust has been built and Alex has an alarming accident while trying to flush out the saboteur, both men pool their resources and become inseparable in their mission to catch the thief. Of course, that leads to more time together… and I loved watching these guys figure out that they could be more than successful undercover detectives together.

If you like stories about  “rich kid” finding a purpose in life, if you want to watch two men figure out how to work together only to find themselves falling in love, and if you’re looking for a read that is entertaining, funny, and suspenseful, then you will probably like this novel as much as I do. All I can say is “Bravo, Clare. You’ve done it again.” and “Please keep going!” – this series is simply wonderful!
