Book Review

Pirate stories, the ‘sanitized’ ones where we get to focus on the characters and the gruesome reality is nicely pushed aside, have their own charm. Ever since ‘Pirates of the Caribbean” even more so. This story is no exception. There is a bit of the ‘reality’ intruding, but it is more a part of the setting than the main focus.

Abraham is a man of the law. After a long search he has found peace in a small village only to be forced into giving himself into a pirate captain’s hands to protect the villagers. His ‘kidnapper’ is not quite who he seemed and Abraham discovers a whole new world. One that includes fulfilling the secret yearnings for another man that he has hidden away for years. It was great to see him come into his own.

The pirate captain is definitely a rogue, will not go back to living lawfully, and is determined to make Abraham see the light, so to speak. Since they are both very stubborn men, this ‘debate’ turns extremely interesting. Of course, this being a Sean Michael book, a lot of the ‘discussions’ take place in bed - er, the bunk.

If you like ‘civilized’ pirates and the edge of danger they introduce into a story, if you enjoy two stubborn men fighting over whose view of the world is correct, and if you’re looking for a lot of hot man-on-man action, then you will probably like this novella.
