Book Blurb

When cowboy and wolf shifter Cody Marshal wakes on a country road scratched, naked, and lacking his favourite pair of boots he doesn’t expect the caring touch of his rescuer, Adrian Le Roy, or the way it makes him feel, man and wolf.

Veterinarian Adrian Le Roy knows something is strange when he finds cowboy Cody Marshal sleeping off an apparent bender in the middle of the dirt road leading to Adrian’s new practice out west. For one thing, Cody is scratched and bruised and he’s completely naked. When he runs off into the woods Adrian can’t shake the feeling he’s walked into some kind of primal dream.

Twice a month Cody wakes up somewhere bare-assed, lacking even his favourite pair of boots. As far as he’s concerned, being a wolf shifter sucks. Even worse is his desire for Adrian, his gentle new employer who has no idea the beast he risks inviting into his bed.

Book Review

Shifter Cowboy, the second book in the Uncommon Cowboy series, is about quite an unusual cowboy indeed. Cody is a wolf shifter who leads a lonely existence because he thinks he isn’t worthy of company, especially not that of the civilized veterinarian who moves onto the farm with him. I loved the description of his raw longing, his deep shame and the way Adrian didn’t care about any of that, just wanting to give in to his suddenly very wild feelings.

I loved the tension around Cody’s secret. I really liked him, despite the fact that he was extremely possessive about Adrian, only wanting to dominate him. But Cody is also very vulnerable and that made him a very loveable character for me. Adrian is just as lonely as Cody, not quite fitting into the city he came from, but a bit at a loss on the farm as well. But he has a natural affinity with the animals he treats, is deeply attracted to Cody and wants very much to make his new existence work. He is also great with Cody, not judging him at all, which I loved about him.

If you like stories about cowboys and wolf shifters (here you get both in one, which is a real treat), characters who deeply care for each other and have explosively hot sex, and the tension and revelations that go with one man hiding what he thinks are insurmountable and relationship-ending issues, you will probably like this book.
