Book Blurb

As the owner of The Spread Eagle, Mr Tomlinson has told himself that the only reason he keeps a watchful eye on his bartender, Dan, is because he doesn't like his employees slacking off when they're on the clock. What other interest could he have in Dan when they are both confirmed doms?

Finding out from the club's resident brat, Bret, that Dan has switched in the past, opens up a whole new world of opportunities for Mr Tomlinson. And, discovering that Bret is trying to set Dan up with a dom who is completely unsuitable for him means that Mr Tomlinson has to act quickly.

But was everything Bret told Mr Tomlinson the truth? And, if Dan really is a switch, why has he been lying about that ever since he came to work at The Spread Eagle?

Book Review

In the first two installments of this series set at the Spread Eagle leather club, two couples have already found happiness thanks to the matchmaking efforts of Bret, the brattiest brat who ever existed. Despite (or maybe because of) the fact that he is extremely happy with his Master, Marcus, Bret can’t seem to stop “interfering” in other people’s business, and after getting Ricky and Jack together the previous year, Bret turns his attention to the club’s owner, Mr. Tomlinson, and the bartender, Dan. There is only one problem: both men are Doms. Not that this stops Bret’s efforts… and he has the perfect idea about how to break the “stalemate” between two men he figures belong together.

Mr. Tomlinson has been eyeing Dan for quite a while, but has never admitted as much to himself. There was no point since he believed Dan to be a Dom. Now that Bret has made him think that Dan might be a switch, things change and Mr. Tomlinson quickly finds an opportunity to test the waters, so to speak. One thing quickly leads to another, the heat rises to epic levels, and Mr. Tomlinson decides that getting Dan to submit to him is exactly what both of them need.

Dan has been following his self-imposed rule of pretending to be a total Dom ever since he started working at Spread Eagle. It’s not that he is opposed to submitting, like any true switch he can find pleasure on both sides of the equation. The problem for him is that he hasn’t found anyone worth submitting to, and the lack of enjoyment means he has focused on being a Dom. He still fantasizes about it though – and when Mr. Tomlinson suddenly becomes interested in playing with him, Dan is torn. His fantasies are so hot – how can reality possible match up?

Any new BDSM couple goes through an adjustment period, but having a switch rediscover his submissive side and the unexpected issues that come with it is a particularly delicate situation. Mr. Tomlinson is an experienced enough Dom to read the signs and figure out what to do on the physical side, but when his and Dan’s hearts begin to engage as well as their bodies, the situation becomes a lot more difficult. I love the way Kim Dare is able to describe what happens not just physically (and boy, are these guys hot together), but she also has a firm grip on the psychological and emotional aspects. Her observations and details on that front made this story even hotter!

If you like unusual BDSM stories with lots of nuance and a complicated psychological aspect, if two guys feeling out each other’s needs as they engage in very hot BDSM play are your thing, and if you’re looking for an entertaining read that is as scorching as it is emotionally intense, then you will probably like this novella as much as I do.
