Somewhere in the world is a statue so sinful that a secret sect of the Church wants it destroyed at any cost. Somewhere in the Turkish desert, in the streets of London, and in the depths of Venice, are the clues to find it. And, somewhere in the hearts of five sexy, daring, thrill-seeking gay men, is the courage and die-hard determination to unravel one of the greatest mysteries of all time.

Meet Luca da Roma, an Italian model and expert in art, both ancient and modern; Dr. Eden Santiago, Brazilian biologist, physician and genetic engineer; Shane Houston, a Texas cowboy and an expert in cartography; Will Hunter, a San Diego college student and football star, majoring in ancient history; and Shane Stone, an adventurer-for-hire from New York and the newest member of Professor Fathom's team of hot gay adventure seekers.

Book Review

A statue of Christ created by an artist who was tortured to death by a church still wanting to destroy it centuries later. Some cleverly hidden clues as to where it might be found. An intrepid team of young adventurers with a variety of skills – all of them gay, courageous, and determined to overcome any and all obstacles between them and the artwork they seek. Those are the ingredients of this breathtakingly suspenseful action-adventure that contains enough exotic settings (real and imagined), mysterious hints, and very hot physical encounters to make this an extremely exciting novel to read. Indiana Jones and Robert Langdon – eat your hearts out!

Professor Fathom, the brain behind this outfit, summarizes their motto as follows: “Freedoms have been lost. Lives have been taken. The time has come for truths to be told, and for secrets to be revealed. The Naked Christ is more than just a statue. It is a symbol of the fight against oppression. It’s a fight we must win.” – and that pretty much says it all. Just like in a major movie, each member of the team is introduced by accompanying them just before they join the enigmatic professor in charge for a briefing. It quickly becomes obvious that this will not be an easy quest – just the way I like it.

The stakes are high from the start and only increase as one secret after another is discovered, riddles are solved, and enigmatic hints followed to the point where they become useful. I loved how each of the five men has a specific contribution to make and how their very different personalities combined into just the diverse skill set needed to deal with unearthing The Naked Christ, also called The Cross of Sins. Of course they are all somewhere between handsome and gorgeous, sexy, and up for anything while on assignment. Much fun is to be had as they explore not just ancient secrets but more than one modern-day encounter of the physical kind – bedroom optional.

If you like quests that are a race against time as much as against brutal opponents who have no regard for human life, if you want to watch five young men bond as a team while they uncover ancient secrets, and if you’re looking for a read that is spellbinding, incredibly hilarious at times, scorching hot, and with more than a few issues left to solve, then you will probably like this action-packed novel as much as I do. I love that there are a few more in this series that I can dive into as soon as my heart rate slows down enough for me to take a breath and open the next volume.
