Book Blurb

Kevin knows his crush on his gorgeous but impossibly aloof boss Marcus isn't going anywhere. So it's a huge shock when Marcus mysteriously appears one night in Kevin's bedroom. Kevin has just enough time to enjoy Marcus' attention and warm familiarity, then Marcus vanishes.

And then it happens again the next night.

And the next.

Meanwhile, back in daylight office hours, Marcus is as cold as ever with no obvious recollection of his night-time visits.

What's really happening? Kevin's emotions run deep, but so does his confusion. He's wary of believing they have a chance together, yet his body and heart respond too joyfully to ignore.

It will take a twist of fate, a break in the routine, and a bizarre time trip to bring them together properly and, hopefully, for real.

First edition published by Dreamspinner Press, June 2012.

Book Review

Mesmerizing is a good way to describe this very unusual and very cleverly written story. Like a riddle, or an unsolved puzzle, it starts out with some highly confusing events, becomes stranger as you read, and is finally resolved in what I can only call a very elegant way. I tip my hat to Clare, for using one of the most unusual types of 'time travel' in an extremely clever fashion.

Kevin is shocked when his normally aloof boss suddenly appears in his bedroom. Almost every night around the same time.  And when he doesn't seem to remember any of it during the daytime, Kevin knows something really strange is happening. Spooked at first, he enjoys the encounters with his secret crush too much to really want them to stop. As weird as hey are, they also carry tremendous promise, and I loved the tenderness in their encounters as time progressed.

Of course, I was scratching my head the entire time, trying to figure out what was going on. I will only say this: if you expect the solution to be in any way within a "traditional" time travel convention, you will be disappointed. The real solution is much more ingenious!

If you like riddles and puzzles, if you enjoy the feeling of being lost but are able to love every minute of it, and if you're ready for a somewhat unconventional ride into the land of the imagination, you will probably like this story as much as I did. Bravo, Clare!
