Book Blurb

Deputy US Marshal Miro Jones finally has everything he ever wanted. He’s head-over-heels in love and married to the man of his dreams, his partner Ian Doyle, he’s doing well at work, and all his friends are in good places as well. Things are all tied up nicely… until they’re not.

Change has never been easy for Miro, and when situations at work force the team he’s come to depend on to break apart, and worst of all, his and Ian’s individual strengths put them on two separate paths, he’s pretty certain everything just went up in smoke. But before he can even worry about the future, his past comes for a visit, shaking his world up even more. It’s hard to tell what road he should truly be on, but as he learns some paths are forged and others are discovered, it might be that where he's going is the right course after all. If he can navigate all the twists and turns, he and Ian might just get their happily ever after.

Book Review

There is never a dull moment in Miro and Ian’s world. The author certainly never stops the excitement or the action and adventure. Hell, there’s not even a build-up at the beginning! Oh no. In ‘Twisted & Tied’ I’m one page in and I’ve got Miro watching helplessly as his boss, Sam Kage, goes leaping off the roof of a building after a suspect. My heart was in my throat. And that definitely wasn’t the only time during my read that I suffered that affliction.

I held my breath (and maybe hyperventilated a few times) throughout this entire story. I know, I know, I said my heart was in my throat but really, I can’t emphasize enough the impact watching Miro and Ian move into different roles within the US marshal service had on me. Hell, had on them! Their partnership, their love for each other, and their marriage are based on all the very best things everyone should be blessed to have, and watching them work through their issues reminded me of that. I was truly worried that all of the changes in their department was going to cause friendships to fade but I should have known better. Kage has made a family with his group.

“He was not, as a rule, in touch with his feelings. They wandered all over the place, and trying to get them all together so he could speak definitively about them was like herding cats.”

Now, if all I had to concentrate on were Miro, Ian, and several of the other guys’ promotions, and the change that came with it, that would have been one thing. But, oh no. The author pulled in a very creepy FBI behavioral profiler along with Miro’s ardent admirer and serial killer, Hartley, for the next step in this dance they’ve been doing for years now. Ooh, I had goosebumps more than once. Trust me, the author wrung my emotions out like a wet washcloth, leaving me gracelessly used.

“You’re alive, love, and I’ve got you, I’ll always be here… I’ll always have you. I’m your safety net. You can count on me.” I could, I knew that. He was mine, my husband, my partner in all things, and the job didn’t matter, only life did, and for my life, there was Ian.”

I was speechless at the end. Mostly because this entire novel was phenomenal, but also I’m afraid this may be the finale of the series. So many things got wrapped up that I can’t imagine where else the author could go. But I’m only a reviewer not an author, and certainly not one like Mary Calmes, so who knows? I’m going to hope that I might get more from Miro and Ian, but if not then I’m happy to reread. Thank you, Mary, for showing me their wedding. It was almost exactly as I imagined it would be. And I loved all the shout-outs. They made me smile.
