Book Blurb

Dylan Mitchell wants to get married.

However, after seven years of being engaged, that’s looking slightly doubtful. After going through ten wedding planners, they’re gaining a reputation somewhat akin to Henry the Eighth on the wedding circuit.

Gabe has vetoed symbolic dove releases, forests of flowers, fire-eating performers, and puce as a wedding colour. He’s confounded an army of wedding professionals, and now Dylan, the man who knows and loves him better than anyone, has joined the ranks of the confused. Can anything please his fiancé and get them to the altar?

Book Review

Dylan and Gabe (from ‘Deal Maker’) are getting married. Well, maybe. If they don’t settle on a date, location, and wedding planner, it may not happen. So far, they’ve fired all the planners for one reason or another (including the release of doves and use of puce as a wedding color). But the bottom line is that Gabe is being fussy and only wants what he believes Dylan wants. When their newest wedding planner cuts to the chase and tells Gabe he really needs to have his own voice in the planning, their journey to wedded bliss starts looking up. But Gabe still suffers from past issues that bring on nightmares and he still needs to work on his communication skills. And Dylan? Well, Dylan needs to keep doing what he does best—being a loving, patient, and supportive partner.

There are so many laugh-out-loud moments in this book that one should be cautious when reading – no libraries, no hospitals, no public locations. Period. Seriously, I think Lily Morton could even make my ex-husband laugh. (And that would be a most difficult proposition.) Revisits with some favorite characters are interspersed throughout the book: Ivo, Henry, Jude, and Dylan’s crazy family are among the most prominent, but the best scene, IMO, is their encounter with Gabe’s ex, Fletcher, the narcissistic a**. Truly a classic putdown. Go team Dylan!

As the author promises, though, there’s mostly love in this story. This is a guaranteed winter-blues, pre- or post-holiday mood picker-upper. There’s romance between two men who love each other, there’s the love of family of origin, and there’s the love of found family—the family we choose. I most highly recommend this to all.
