Book Blurb

Alpaca shifter Alfie dreams of a life beyond the petting zoo at stately Mattock Hall. He can’t explore his crush on Simon Mattock, heir to the estate and caretaker to the animals, for two reasons. One, he’s never shifted into human form, and two, Simon is saddled with a boyfriend who’s exploiting him for his wealth. But when a fire threatens both the zoo and Simon, Alfie knows the time has come to put his fears aside, make his first shift, and save them. He just hopes Simon will like what he sees.

A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2016 Daily Dose package “A Walk on the Wild Side”.

Book Review

Have you ever seen a baby alpaca? Honestly they are the cutest little animals around and they make me want to snuggle and kiss them. Phew! Thanks for letting me get that off of my chest. I was intrigued by the description of 'Alpaca Lies' not just because I adore this animal, but because the story sounded so sweet and gentle. I thought it would blend so beautifully with all of the other stories I've read in this year's Daily Dose package, 'A Walk on the Wild Side'.

Alfie is adorable and not just because he's an alpaca shifter. It's his sweet, caring nature and his desire to make Simon happy that endeared him to me. I was shocked that Alfie had never shifted into his human before, but apparently his mother had warned him to stay hidden before he left the farm. Alfie has now reached full adulthood though, which in this author's world means he's reached his full powers for controlling his human and animal side.

Oh my, but that is an exciting fight scene between Simon and his soon-to-be ex-boyfriend. Unfortunately, it was in the petting zoo and a fire got started. Alfie had to do something to help the other animals and Simon. Even though Alfie didn't have a lot of faith in himself, I knew he could rise to the challenge and be the hero, and lover, that Simon needs. I did find it hilarious the way Alfie introduced himself to Simon after everyone was safe. In fact, I'm sure I'll find that scene running through my head at strange times and then I'll be giggling.

A very cute addition to the collection that I really would have enjoyed being longer. However, I certainly liked everything I read and Alfie made me giggle.
