Book Blurb

Landon has been dreaming about Adam Taggart his whole life. Tag has some mixed feelings, though, and he might just need an intervention…

Landon Gaudet may not be the best bull rider on earth, but he knows that's where the money is in rodeo. His Cajun heart is more involved with horses, though, and with finding the cowboy he's been dreaming of all of his relatively short life.

Adam Taggart has been around the block more than once, and while he thinks Landon is special, he also thinks the kid deserves better than a safety man with more than his share of notches on the bedpost. Adam does everything he can to resist Landon, but there's not a man alive who doesn't love being loved, is there?

Landon can't believe Adam is finally with him, that his cowboy has finally come around to his way of thinking. The only problem is that Adam isn't sure he deserves love, or that he really has any to give. He questions everything from his need for Landon to his family’s assertion that he can do better than a boy from the bayou. Can Landon show Adam that sometimes magic is real, and that all you really need is to have a little faith?

Book Review

This newest book in the Roughstock world of cowboys, bull riders, rodeo clowns, and the ranches that provide the horses and bulls needed for any rodeo event, was as much fun to read as the previous volumes of this loosely connected series. There is heartache, some angst, and a lot of determination on Landon’s part to get Adam to see him as a lover rather than as a “kid”. The story is told in BA Tortuga’s hallmark cowboy language with quite a bit of Cajun-French thrown in, and I adore that. It makes for such a different read to be able to practically hear the drawl and the twang! Reading this newest novel in the series was much like coming home when some of the characters from previous books reappeared here. It can be read as a stand-alone, but so many of the men who play a major or minor role in Landon and Adam's story have very detailed pasts, and you might want to go on and read up on them after finishing this book.

Landon, the Cajun of this book, is a wonderful character. He is a very giving man, always ready to help, loyal to his friends, and a fighter who has survived on his own while also protecting his twin sister after they lost their parents to an accident when they were twelve.  He may ride bulls for the money, which he desperately needs since he has no school education, but his heart is with horses. He is a true horse whisperer and uses his talent to help where he can. He has a deep belief in God and his sister's ability to do good, and what appears as magic to some people is just part of who he is. He has dreamed about Adam for years, in many visions, and the man's reluctance to make a commitment to Landon hurts him deeply.

Adam is from Texas, is a bit of a playboy, well-educated, one of a triplet of brothers who are very close, and he has always had money. The whole situation with Landon has him rattled: first he thinks the guy is too young for him, then he believes Landon can do better than Adam, and all kind of other nonsense runs around in his brain until he realizes what’s what. The question is whether Landon, who has been deeply wounded by Adam not supporting him, will be able to forgive him. But Adam is determined and nothing much can resist a Taggart brother who has made up his mind.

If you like cowboys and rodeos, if you enjoy reading about two men who seem to be too different to ever have a chance, yet are made for each other, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with lots and lots of hot action between the sheets, then you will probably like this novel.
