A missing woman. Dark magic. Shocking secrets.

It’s been over a year since Quentin Strange and his journalist partner Kat Brannigan solved a decades-old mystery at the haunted Hilderley Manor. Quentin, now a photographer and part-time editorial assistant for the Cricklewood Gazette, has struggled to come to terms with his new-found abilities.

When the fiancée of a local Wiccan High Priest goes missing on the Winter Solstice, Quentin and Kat are tasked with covering the story. But the enigmatic Jareth Cullen, a pariah of the town and the prime suspect in his fiancée’s disappearance, isn’t what he first seems.

When events surrounding the woman’s disappearance begin to take a darker turn, Quentin is forced to face his fears. Everyone in Cricklewood is keeping a secret. And when witchcraft gets dark, danger lurks around every corner.

A mystery about the masks we wear. The lies we tell. The secrets we keep. And the dangers that lurk around every corner. The second book in the Quentin Strange Mysteries, Capturing Magick takes the characters of the quirky British haunted house mystery into edgier and more thrilling territory in this supernatural mystery thriller full of twists.

Book Review

"Villainy wears many masks; none so dangerous as the mask of virtue." ~ Washington Irving

In Dean Cole's 'Capturing Magick', Quentin Strange is nursing his wounds over a failed relationship, hoping to have a respite from his past supernatural adventures. Still, he is drawn into the search when a beautiful woman goes missing.

Quentin works as a photographer and editorial assistant-in-training at the Gazette newspaper. He feels it is essential to cover a big story, such as the missing fiancée of a prominent town member. Quentin joins in the search, first as an assignment for his job, but much to his chagrin, he becomes more involved as time passes.

During the search, Quentin meets the mysterious Drew Hawthorne. He doesn't know what to do with Drew, and Quentin is not ready to get close to anyone yet. Other than that, Quentin doesn't trust him because he senses Drew isn't who he says he is.

As Quentin becomes more deeply involved in the mystery, he learns that many people are not who they appear to be. Quentin fights fire with fire in a concerted effort to solve the mystery and get himself out of trouble. Since he is up against dark magic, Quentin must learn how to fight it.

'Capturing Magick' was a suspenseful, puzzling mystery with a paranormal twist. Kat was as outrageous as ever, adding color to the story. Quentin was a genuine and loveable man who became involved in things he'd rather not have and learned some painful truths. However, as heartbreaking as the situation was, Quentin persevered.

Thanks, Dean, for allowing me to go on another journey with Quentin. I'm looking forward to his next adventure and hope it will be happier.
