Sometimes the perfect man is the one determined to give you away.
Tucker Right has loved Norman Wells since the first day they met, but the mercenary believes the beautiful scientist needs a gentler soul to care for him.
Determined to find his friend the perfect man, Tucker is astonished to learn Norm has no intention of being set up.
When the mob targets Norm for his scientific breakthroughs Tucker has to step up and claim the man who had every intention of Catching Mr Right.
If there is such a thing as a fluffy thriller, this is it. I know it sounds weird, but let me explain. Norm, the brilliant scientist, and Tucker, the hard-boiled ex-soldier, make a most unlikely pair, yet they have been best friends for five years. The way they have secretly been pining for each other would be sad if it hadn’t been presented in such a funny way. The first half of the story sounds more like a romantic comedy, which I enjoyed a lot, with a few hints at something darker. And just when I thought I was safe—BAM! Catastrophe hits with tornado force and the story takes off into thriller land. Which, by the way, I also enjoyed a lot.
Norm is geeky, nerdy, and has an IQ that's probably off the charts. His personal life is a mess, no boyfriend stays with him for any length of time, and the only person he is really interested in (his best friend, Tucker, of all people) is unavailable. Or so Norm thinks for the longest time. Instead of finding the lover he wants, Norm focuses on his professional life. He does all kinds of fascinating research and though he may have never even thought about it, lots of people are probably interested in his inventions. Not all of them go after him with guns, most are "harmless" corporate spies he can deal with, but when they do come after him with more firepower? Let me tell you, he turns out to be way more combative than Tucker (or I) ever suspected.
Tucker is a hardened ex-soldier who is now working in security and thinks he isn’t good enough for Norm. He hasn't dated since he and Norm met, but believes that friendship is enough. Maybe. Well, it has to be. That is until Norm gets really serious about a man Tucker introduced him to and Tucker sees red. Luckily Norm has it all planned out and… that is just when the sh*t hits the fan and they both need to fight for their lives. Tucker goes all protective, but he is scared to death someone might take Norm away from him.
If you like stories about extremely tough men who really don't change all that much except getting closer together, forced by events, than they have ever been before, if a "humorous thriller" sounds interesting, and if you're looking for a read that is hot, funny, and intense, all at the same time, then you will probably like this novella. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
