Book Blurb

How did I end up in this predicament, you might ask? With my brother, it’s a no-brainer, but with my supposed mate… Arden Laberge is everything I’ve wanted in a man, strong like a shot of pure black java, but with a gentle edge soothing away the harshness. Yes, I’m very fond of coffee. Sue me.

Arden seems to believe we fit, like coffee and donuts. But I don’t know anything anymore. How can I change my entire way of life, even for him? How can I not?

And as if that wasn't enough, my ex has returned to cause me even more problems. My life’s gotten too crazy, and not even a healthy dose of caffeine can help me figure it out.

Note: This book is written in first-person point of view.

Book Review

As entertaining as the first book in the series, this volume picks up the story from Mackenzie's brother's point of view. Rylee is a hunter, tasked to keep humans safe from paranormals, and his issues with suddenly having some of those same paranormals as in-laws are significant. They pale in comparison to finding out he is attracted to a werewolf, though, and that is just the starting point for this book. Written with as much humor as the first book, this one made me laugh. I was able to relate to Rylee's coffee addiction really well, and love the idea of a werewolf with a sweet tooth!

Rylee may be a hunter of paranormals, and his parents may want him to continue the family traditions, but having grown up with Mackenzie, an adopted paranormal boy, has given Rylee a level of insight into them which other hunters don’t have. He is more lenient (at least toward the ones who don’t misbehave), so when he first meets Arden, a werewolf, he doesn't reject him outright. The closer they get though, the more conflicted Rylee becomes – he realizes his current way of life will end if they mate.

Arden may be an alpha werewolf, but he is not one of those dominant-at-any-cost, macho types who think they can run their mate's life. He is a very modern-day alpha, which was fun to discover. Not only is he addicted to donuts (which fits well with Rylee's coffee dependency), he is very understanding and tolerant in his dealings with Rylee. His mating instincts and need to have Rylee close are as strong as the next werewolf's, but he is able to let his brain rule – most of the time. And when he loses control it Is only with Rylee's full agreement and participation. Very hot!

If you like stories with lots of humor as well as internal and external conflict, if you enjoy watching a werewolf and a hunter come to terms with their attraction as they tear up the sheets, and if you're looking for a hot read with an entertaining plot, then you will probably like this book.
