Joe Bagshaw doesn’t believe in love or marriage anymore, which is rather a hindrance for a wedding planner.
His own marriage was a whirlwind affair that ended before the ink could dry on the wedding certificate. Nevertheless, even with his divorce pending, he’s getting by. Or at least he was until he finds himself snowed in at a remote Scottish hotel with the wedding party from hell, a terrible ABBA tribute band, and his soon-to-be ex-husband.
Lachlan has missed Joe from the second his husband walked away. He wants Joe back and is prepared to do anything to get him. Being snowed in together seems to offer the chance Lachlan needs, but does he have what it takes to get Joe to trust in love and their marriage again?
"Be honest with yourself about what truly matters to you in your life. You May Find it is already much closer than you think." - Ruben Chavez
Joe, of 'Confetti Hearts' by Lily Morton, is an incredible, sought-after wedding planner. Still, his recent breakup with his partner, Lackland, has taken the joy out of his work.
When Lackland meets Joe, he is overwhelmed with passion and admiration. He relentlessly pursues Joe with determination and succeeds. Unfortunately, he lacks the emotional connection that Joe deserves. Finally, Joe has had enough of Lacklan's neglect and indifference and leaves. Then, he realizes how much he wants Joe in his life. With some help from Joe's friends, he devises a plan to win him back.
Joe's most recent wedding takes place at a remote castle in Scotland in the middle of winter, where he is surprised to find Lackland present. Joe is angry and plans to leave immediately after the ceremony, but Mother Nature intervenes; there is a blizzard outside, making it impossible for Joe to go anywhere.
Lackland breathes a sigh of relief because it gives him more time to win Joe back. But will Joe want to reunite with him after all that has happened?
I loved Joe. He was snarky yet vulnerable. On the other hand, Lackland was selfish and self-serving. He redeemed himself in the end, but it was almost a case of too little too late. 'Confetti Hearts' is a blend of sarcasm, sorrow, and reconciliation, culminating in love winning. Thanks, Lily, for the heartache, tears, laughter, and mostly for the hope. I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
