Book Blurb

Beckett Gray is a broken man. He’s going through the motions of life ever since his husband was taken from him five years ago. He doesn’t believe in the supernatural, but when strange things begin to happen in his home, he’s forced to admit something paranormal may be going on.

Karson Raycroft left this realm before his time because of a hit and run driver. Is he now reaching out to his husband, encouraging Beck to find love again and move on with his life?

On the verge of losing what little is left of his sanity, Beck hires medium Travis Watson to rid his home of whatever (or whoever) is causing the disturbances. But Travis may have his own demons that need exorcising before he can help Beck. Can Kar convince Beck and Travis that new love is possible together?

Footprints on My Heart is a contemporary ghost story about two older guys finding love after tragedy, thanks to a matchmaking spirit.

Book Review

“When we lose someone we love we must learn not to live without them, but to live with the love they left behind.” – Unknown

Beckett (Beck), from 'Footsteps on My Heart' by R.J. Peterson, is a firm nonbeliever in the supernatural. Yet, when he begins to witness inexplicable events reminding him of his late husband's actions, Karson (Kar), Beck starts to question his convictions. When he confides in Val, his best friend, about feeling as if Kar is showing signs of being present in their house, she seizes the opportunity: she gets in touch with Tony, owner of a local New Age shop, who knows someone, a psychic named Travis, who may be able to help.

Travis struggles to control his gift. He aids ghosts, but their incessant demands echo in his mind, leaving him with little rest from the cacophony. It's how he makes a living, but sometimes he wishes he could quit. When his friend, Tony, asks Travis to help Beck, he hesitates, but after meeting him, he realizes how much he wants to help him.

Travis knows the attraction he feels toward Beck is completely unprofessional, yet he finds it hard to resist. Beck is charming, kind, and sad. He's incredibly easy to talk to, and for him to find any peace, Beck needs to understand if Kar is there and know what he is trying to convey.

In ‘Footprints on My Heart’, the supernatural element is more than just a plot device; it offers a unique perspective that enhances the depth of the story. The journey of Travis and Beck is both endearing and realistic. Kar's message to Beck is one I would wish for anyone whose partner has been left behind. Thanks, R.J., for the touching tale.
