Book Blurb

Ice won't let his team at Elemental Ops go with him on what's supposed to be a suicide mission to uncover a new biological weapon. Imagine his surprise when the biggest danger he finds himself in is being bonded to a baby dragon, and falling in love with said dragon's Guardian, Keon. Keon isn't worried about things like guns and governments. He has a whole host of problems in all shapes and colors.

When Ice accidentally bonds with one of his baby dragons, Keon is more worried about getting the man to come in from the cold and find a place in their bizarre little family. Can these two find common ground, and keep the dragons safe?

Book Review

The idea of elemental powers fascinates me, and combined with a tale about dragons and their keepers as described in the blurb had me jumping at the chance to read this book. It is a wonderful mix of fairy tale creatures, dragons in all colors, and a sense of modern-day adventure, undercover ops teams and mysterious missions included. Add two hot men falling for each other and the slow reveal about what is actually going on in the bigger picture, and this story quickly became a winner for me.

Ice is the leader of a somewhat mysterious private team that goes on secret missions for (as of yet) unknown person or organization. He is strong, independent, and thinks he can solve any problem on his own. He is also protective of the men he commands, which is why he refuses to take them on a mission he thinks is suicidal. Imagine his surprise when he finds a well-hidden stronghold full of baby dragons and their sexy Guardian. I loved Ice's transformation from a pretty cold operative to a caring man who recognizes he may need his team to help him out one last time…

Keon has been the dragon's Guardian for a very long time, but with fast-increasing numbers of displaced and orphaned dragon babies it is all getting to be a bit much. Not that he will admit this; in his own way Keon is as strong, independent, and stubborn as Ice. He holds a lot of heat, so finding Ice with his special powers is extra-special for Keon.

If you like dragons and want to explore how Julia Talbot has "made them tick" in this world she has created, if you enjoy stories about secret, military-style missions and the men who run them, and if a little bit of a cliffhanger at the end doesn’t scare you off reading the book right now, you will probably like this short story. I think it holds a lot of promise for the rest of the series!
