Nico avoids commitment like it’s contagious. Too bad Levi’s already under his skin.
Nico
Nico is all about living his best life, trading the drama of relationships for the thrill of casual flings. But Nico’s carefully crafted independence wobbles when a one-night stand with Levi—a Daddy who understands his bratty side—turns into a repeat thing. The more they connect, the more Nico fears commitment will trap him in a life he’s worked hard to escape.
Levi
Levi loves a good challenge, and Nico is the perfect mix of bratty and free-spirited. But Nico’s love of chaos in his personal life and his allergy to commitment make things anything but simple. When Nico bolts, Levi has to decide: chase after the boy who might never be ready or accept he’s not the Daddy that Nico needs after all.
Just a Little Fling is book three of the Just A Little series but can be read as a stand-alone. It has a Daddy who loves the feisty ones, a brat who loves to play the field, a couple who comes to understand that commitment doesn’t close every option, and interfering friends who don’t know when to leave well enough alone.
This is a sweet story about a young man who wants no part of any relationship—until he meets Levi, the Daddy who just might spark a change in his thinking.
As the story opens, we meet Nico who identifies as a Middle, i.e., one who finds his relaxed headspace in the ten-year-old-ish age group. He's a PA, and through his boss he meets his boss's partner, Rory, who is a Little—one who identifies as much younger. After a number of circumstances throw Nico with Rory and his Little friends, he starts to realize he's actually more of a Little and enjoys his reading, playing with blocks, coloring, and having fun in the tubby with his toys.
In the meantime, he learns that the hot guy he spotted at a club, with whom he had a one-night stand and has been flirting with by text, turns out to be his new landlord, Levi. Of course, the very rule-abiding Levi and the very worried Nico call off their relationship. But only at first. Later, they are on again and just when it looks like they may be getting in deeper, Nico panics and decides he really can't do relationships. I could actually likely repeat this same sentence several times because they were on and then off and then on and then off and then partially on (Nico would go over to Levi's for his morning spanking and then leave) and then off again. Wow. I know the author stated this was low angst but there was a kind of self-inflicted angst that perpetuated itself over and over again. Not one of my favorite tropes, so they almost lost me.
However, I loved the other Littles, who IMO saved the story in that their group texts and their get-togethers were very uplifting and they definitely wanted to help Nico. This was a core group made up of the Littles from the first two stories and likely included a few future main characters from the rest of the planned series, all of whom were fun and quirky and just adorable as Littles. I do love a good Daddy/Little story relationship.
And though I couldn’t agree with his logic, Nico ultimately surrendered to a commitment to Levi when he realized just how much he loved him and how much Levi must love him because he allowed Nico to reach his own conclusions without pressure. So I think many readers will enjoy this for the full cast and for the HEA and Nico’s commitment compromise to get there.
This story can easily be read as a standalone, but if you are like me, you’ll go pick up the first two to fill in the blanks. They seem to be just the sort of fun-loving Littles I adore.
