Levi is content in his life as an escort at the Kline Agency until he sees a fellow escort find a meaningful relationship. As Levi ponders what it would be like to have a real relationship of his own, he meets a new client, Wesley. Wesley is unlike any guy Levi has ever met.
Levi doesn't want to go back to a life without Wesley, but he's haunted by the mental and physical scars his ex, Darien, left behind. It's hard for Levi to learn to trust again, even with Wesley. Determined to put his past behind him, Levi agrees to a trial Dominant/submissive relationship with his new lover.
When Darien comes back into Levi's life, claiming he's changed, Levi has to face his fears, and come clean with Wesley about his past. But Wesley has a few secrets of his own...
In this second book of the series, both main characters have something to run away from. Levi's issues are pretty obvious from the start, and since he tells the story, I had a front row seat to his struggles, so to speak. But Wesley has a secret as well, and while his struggle was less obvious, I did feel for him once he finally revealed what was eating at him. All in all, this made for a fairly tense story, due to more than just the physical attraction between the two men.
Levi is an escort, and since that allows him to be around men and pretend to be their partner, at least for a short while, he escapes the danger of getting too attached. Any type of emotional bond is dangerous for him, or so he thinks, since his experience with the type of sexual partner he wants hasn't exactly been positive. Presented with the temptation of Wesley, his resistance crumples and he has a difficult decision to make.
Wesley is a somewhat mysterious man who clearly likes his privacy. He is also more than interested in Levi, and has some very "particular" ideas about what he wants, and that goes for everything, including the bedroom. He isn’t a harsh Dominant, but he does know what he wants. His one area of vulnerability, when he finally confessed, made me smile.
If you're looking for a fun story about two men who complement each other in their physical desires, if you enjoy stories with sexual denial scenes, and if you're looking for a light read with just a touch of angst, then you will probably like this short story.
