Book Blurb

As an Alpha of the First War, the only thing I had ever known was battle.

Captured, bound, and unable to see, I wasn't the sort of Alpha to give up without a fight. Escape turned out to be the easy part, but coping with everything else threatened to drop me to my knees.

Learning that my injuries were permanent made me question my abilities as an Alpha, but when my Wolf wanted to bond with the human who had been brought in along with me, I started to question my sanity. Never mind that I had no time for a mate, there was no way the resistance would follow a blind Alpha with a human as his bonded.

Still, they had little choice. More of our people were going missing every day, and it was starting to look like the corruption was going all the way to the top.

Book Review

E.M. Lindsey's venture into the paranormal genre is so much more than I had anticipated. I initially read this book when the author published it under a pseudonym using a different title and series name. At that time, I wasn't impressed with the blurb and it took me a couple of months to decide to take a chance and shortly after beginning the story, I was kicking myself for waiting as this book turned out to be fascinating. I am pleased that in this new version the author updated the blurb giving it more of a "punch" and tugging my interest right off the bat.

The world is almost more like an alternate reality with a storyline that involves Wolves as being an evolutionary divergence from humans and having been revealed to the public not too horribly long ago. Of course, as we’ve seen in our own political landscape—not to mention history throughout the ages—anything, or anyone, who is different tends to cause anger, fear, and hatred. Thus, the war between the humans and the Wolves. A war that has gone on for decades and shows no signs of ending.

Kor is a general in the Wolf army and is searching a battlefield for any survivors, when the humans and Wolves are meeting to negotiate a peace treaty. Kor is kidnapped and taken to a lab where he spends months being atrociously experimented on in all manner of hideous ways. Misha is the youngest son of a geneticist father who learns all too easily how little value his father places on him. Misha is one of many humans in the lab being “treated” and dying a little more each day. Misha and Kor escape with the help of the Wolf resistance to discover that they are both irrevocably changed and won’t ever be able to go back to who they were… much less, what they were.

‘Love and War’ is more than just a shifter/human love story. In fact, that part of the tale is almost secondary to the building of a world where the leaders of humans and Wolves have done what history has shown powerful people doing for centuries—selling out their own kind in order to garner more power and strength for themselves while lying to the general public about it. Kor and Misha are caught up in all of this as Kor is elected Head Alpha of the resistance and Misha is his mate.

I’m looking forward to more about this world and the fight to defeat those in power who believe they are more valuable than the “riffraff”. I really want to see more action, some skillful intrigue, and love stories that go beyond the norm. I’m also pretty positive the author can bring me all of that and then some.
