Sam Eastman lives a lonely existence in the mountains of Colorado, working as a ranger and taking care of holiday cabins during the winter. He gets a new dog from the animal shelter and is shocked to find out he has accidentally adopted a shape-shifter.
Philip, a young Englishman, was on holiday and got a bit carried away on a night out. Sam agrees to help him get back to his friends, but a landslide cuts them off, stranding them in Sam’s cabin together. They end up getting closer than either of them expected.
When they go their separate ways, Sam gives Philip his number to stay in touch, but Philip loses it. He’ll have to resort to desperate measure to find Sam again.
A story from the Dreamspinner Press 2016 Daily Dose package “A Walk on the Wild Side”.
I can't imagine anything more wonderful than adopting a dog from a rescue shelter only to then discover it's a shapeshifter. That might just be the coolest thing ever. Well, except for actually being a shapeshifter that is. I'm loving this year's Dreamspinner Press Daily Dose package full of shifters, hot men, hilarity, ingenuousness, very interesting types of shifters, and a myriad of world building.
Sam didn't think it was wonderful to get home and find a naked guy in a collar in the back of his SUV and his dog missing. He really didn't think it was great when Philip proved he was a shapeshifter. But Sam certainly began to appreciate having someone to talk with, to tease, to joke and laugh with, as winter in the mountains of Colorado can be mighty lonely. Philip is here on holiday visiting some friends as he's in his last year of medical school. A much needed holiday where he didn't plan on spending four days in the shelter eating dog food. Ugh.
Sam and Philip were absolutely adorable. The way they meshed together, and I don't just mean sexually although they were very hot, but the way Sam took Philip, in his dog form, for a hike up to one of Sam's favorite places, and Philip got him to play fetch along the way. Dogs really are man's best friend and I guess that works even if you're a shapeshifter.
I am a dog lover so this addition kept me riveted. It also made me laugh, sigh, and I loved the ending. Thank you!
