Sometimes the only way to protect your heart is to break it before they can.
Finn met the perfect man six months ago. Cillian King is handsome, filthy rich, and has an Irish accent that makes him go weak at the knees. Of late, though, Finn’s remembering that if something seems too good to be true, it usually is. Because while he’s in it for the long haul, Cillian is more interested in work—and Finn deserves better than to play second fiddle to an advertising agency.
When the opportunity to relocate to Paris lands in his lap, it’s a chance for Finn to move on with his life.
New job. New city. New start.
Cillian was supposed to be relieved. He wasn’t supposed to turn up on Finn’s doorstep with words of regret and promises of doing better if Finn will give him another chance. It’s too late for that. Isn’t it?
Can a leopard really change its spots? If he can’t, Finn doesn’t know if he’ll be strong enough to walk away twice.
But maybe… just maybe, Cillian’s the perfect man, after all.
Never Too Late is an MM second chances dual POV novel featuring ‘first’ dates in Paris, two men who are meant to know each other, but really don’t, cyber sex, a doomed phone, an adopted cat, and a slow burn relationship (this time) that finally gets steamy.
“The most important thing in communication is hearing what isn’t said.” – Peter Drucker
Finn Prescott, of 'Never Too Late' by H.L. Day, is in love. He would like to think that the feeling is mutual, but he is unsure if his beloved, Cillian King, feels the same way. Cillian is everything a man could want good looks, better sex, and so much more. But what Finn needs is Cillian's undivided attention, at least occasionally.
Cillian King enjoys Finn's company, but his true love is his job. Or so it would seem. It is seldom, if ever, that he keeps his promises to call, come by, or have any time together without being interrupted by work. Cillian is so used to only thinking of himself that he doesn't stop to realize that Finn needs more than mind-blowing sex. He needs Killian to put him first to be happy.
Finn shares some responsibility for the situation because he has never discussed the issue with Cillian. After their most recent night together, Finn reaches his breaking point. Instead of giving Cillian a chance to improve, Finn unilaterally ends their relationship without telling Cillian that he has accepted a new job in France.
Finn assumes that Cillian will feel relieved rather than hurt, so he tries to move on from his feelings for him. However, he soon discovers that this is not as easy as he thought. Just when Finn starts to find his footing, Cillian appears at his door, ready to beg if necessary to win him back. Will Cillian's grand gesture be enough to change Finn's mind?
'Never Too Late' emphasized the importance of truly listening and reminded me that I can't assume others automatically understand my feelings. It's crucial to communicate openly and share what’s in my heart. If Killian and Finn had addressed this situation differently, their dilemma would have been much less serious. Thanks, H.L., for giving Finn and Cillian a second chance.
