Balta is all fire and fury, Joa is his haven. What happens when Raul becomes their third?
Joa has no idea where he stands on the bull riding circuit. He’s Brazilian, but he grew up in Texas, so he’s not sure where he fits in. That's okay, because champion Brazilian rider Balta knows just where he wants Joa to be—both in his life and in his bed.
Raul is new to the American bull-riding circuit, and he needs Balta and Joa to teach him the ropes. From the start, Raul knows that Joa belongs with Balta, but he also knows that Balta is nearing retirement, and that the world is ripe for another champion from Brazil, and that he has a lot to add to Joa and Balta's lives.
When Balta decides that Raul is just what he and Joa need to even out the balance of power, they have to find common ground—professionally, publicly, and most importantly, personally, or they'll be pulled apart from both sides.
First edition published under the title Pulled from All Sides at Pride Publishing, September 2016.
Whenever I see a new ‘Roughstock’ book on the coming soon pages, I can’t help but smile. These men and their stories are very close to my heart, and I am having a ball reading all of them in their newest incarnation. BA Tortuga has built a great world in this series focused on cowboys, bull riders, rodeo clowns, and the ranches that provide the horses and bulls needed for any rodeo event. And while the group of Brazilian cowboys has been there, along with their American cousins, all along, this is the first novel that focuses entirely on three of them. BA Tortuga’s hallmark cowboy language is mixed with some Portuguese words in this volume, and that gives everything an extra touch of “special”. I loved watching Balta, Joa, and Raul get to know each other, fall into bed together, and have to figure out not just how their three-way relationship works, but also how they all fit into this very competitive rodeo world of theirs.
Balta, like the blurb says, is “all fire and fury”, and Joa calls him a “demon” only half in fun. Balta is the oldest of the three, has seen a lot in his many years on the rodeo circuit, made it to champion level more than once. He has had his eye on Joa for a while, and when he finally goes after him, the result is one hot union. But then there is Raul as well, and Balta always knows what he wants.
Joa lives between two worlds. He grew up in Texas, but he is also half Brazilian. He is a bridge between the two cultures, but only Balta’s support of him makes him come out of his shell. He falls for the older bull rider in no time flat, and even though he has been raised to believe that two men together are a sin, he can’t resist Balta – not even when the older man suggests Joa give in to his increasing interest in Raul. Joa has rarely been this confused – but who can resist temptation like that?
Raul is the new kid on the block. It is his first rodeo season in America, his English needs a lot of work, and sometimes he believes he may have made a mistake to come to a new country. But he wants to make a lot more money than he could earn in Brazil, and he needs to get away from his family pushing for him to settle down with a wife - he has absolutely no interest in women. But when first Joa and then even Balta show an interest in him that goes beyond friendship, he is not sure what to do.
If you like cowboys and rodeos, if you enjoy reading about three men who seem to be too different to ever have a chance for a loving relationship - never mind the professional issues that raises, and if you're looking for an entertaining read with lots and lots of hot action between two, then three men, then you will probably like this novel.
