Book Blurb

Blake is a gamer frustrated with the dryness of the boyfriend pool. Finding someone who's gay and a huge role-playing geek is about as easy as rolling three critical hits in a row.

His dreams seem to come true when he meets Cain -- a hotter-than-hell bonafide gamer. Sparks fly between them, but Cain is hiding something from Blake, something even worse than liking the character creation phase in Rolemaster.

Book Review

I’m no sure what it is about gamers, or rather, stories about them, but there’s just something I love about the way they live in not-quite-reality. Or maybe it’s the way they can suspend disbelief to delve into fantasy worlds and have amazing adventures. I suspect it’s because, to me, gaming feels like entering a book, which I wish I could do sometimes, only with a more active role than “just” reading. And with the hot guys in this story, it’s quite clear that anything could happen.

Blake is a dedicated gamer. I wouldn’t quite say that gaming is his life, but it comes close. The only thing missing from his life is a boyfriend, but Blake isn’t willing to give up gaming, or to “settle” for someone who merely tolerates the fact that even his everyday references are often related to gaming. Blake wants it all: a partner who “gets” him, maybe even someone who supports him in what he loves to do. And when he thinks he has finally found the guy, at Fantasy Con, of course, what happens? The man kicks him out after an incendiary first encounter in the bedroom. No kissing, no cuddling, nothing. But Blake doesn’t easily give up when roleplaying, so why should he behave differently in real life?

If you like stories about gamers who have their heads in, well, their games more than reality, if two men who are made for each other  - except for someone else’s probably negotiable rules – sound interesting, and if you’re looking for an entertaining, hot read with a paranormal twist, then you will probably like this short story.
