Nothing is as simple as it seems—or as safe.

Dallas Smith just wanted a nap in the hammock but he ends up being abducted by a jaguar shifter named Tiago. They have a distinctly different take on several subjects, and Dallas is shocked to learn just what Tiago really is.

Tiago thinks the wolves in the rainforest are an invasive species that need to leave.

Meanwhile, there’s a threat to the rainforest that no one saw coming. Marcus Criswell has had more losses in the past year or so than he can deal with. He has to, though, because he’s the Alpha Anax of the North American packs. The only reason he’s in South America is because his guard was kidnapped, but now Keegan is safe.

There’s still the matter of the man who tried to abduct Keegan. He can’t go unpunished. Then another shifter goes missing—Dallas, gone from the hammock in a heartbeat.

And on top of that, Maarten is missing.

It just got hotter than hell in Brazil.

Book Review

With Marcus, the North American Alpha Anax, and his mate Nathan still in Brazil, the hunt for the mysterious villain from the previous book continues in nail-biting intensity. Not only that, but a new kind of shifter turns up when Tiago enters the stage and adds tension by kidnapping Dallas from right under Marcus and Ryder’s noses. I know I keep saying it, but I loved the fact that Marcus and Nathan keep reappearing, and with Ryder, the fairly new South American Alpha Anax, and his mate Maarten also in the picture, there were plenty of well-loved characters for me to enjoy. Their interactions added to my entertainment, with Marcus trying t follow Ryder’s lead, as protocol dictates, but definitely not comfortable in that role. He deserves points for trying!

Dallas is a wolf shifter and part of the flight crew on the plane Marcus took to South America. He’s an outgoing, flirty guy who likes to have fun and enjoys having sex - a lot. All the recent excitement and being hit on the head has gotten to him though, and all he wants is some peace and quiet. The hammock outside comes in handy – except next thing he knows a hot jaguar shifter drags him away. Physically attracted to the stranger, Dallas fights the threatening mate bond with all he has – some of Tiago’s comments just rub him the wrong way. They barely know each other when they have to deal with more evil coming their way, but it does force Dallas to consider what’s really important.

Tiago ia a jaguar shifter, not a kind known well to the wolf shifters who are intruding in his territory. Jaguars in nature are very solitary creatures, and that is a characteristic Tiago has in spades – both in shifted and in human form. His back story of being abandoned by his mother when he was sixteen, which is normal for jaguars, is a big part of the reason why he has become the man he is. As for the shock of discovering that he is mated to Dallas, and suddenly feels what is, to him, an unnatural attraction, throws him for a loop. The fact that the villain is also a jaguar shifter only makes things worse. Tiago has a lot to learn, and while he may drag his feet initially, once he gets with the program, he turns out to be exactly who Dallas needs in his life.

If you like the ‘Southwestern Shifters’ series and want to know how Marcus, Nathan, and the others are faring, if men who have a rocky start are your thing, and if you're looking for a read that will give you stubborn main characters, action, and some very hot man-on-man action, then you will probably like this novel as much as I did.
