Welcome to the Old Tavern Club, a front for a shifter rescue organization. Can the club rescue shifters and make the perfect matches while they’re at it?

Sometimes life gives you something magical; if Drill can rescue a dragon that is.

The Old Tavern Club is a front for a shifter rescue organization. The BDSM club works well in keeping the owner’s true purpose secret, but when Pirou makes an unusual rescue, it might just be beyond the clubs prevue. So he calls in Drill, the owner’s brother.

Drill has never even heard of a dragon shifter before, much less seen one, yet that’s exactly what the beast in the club’s basement looks like. As he works with the dragon, he finds all his instincts insisting that this is the sub he’s been looking for.

Can Drill and the dragon rescue a happy ending for themselves?

Life is never dull when you’ve become a dragon shifter’s keeper.

Now that Drill is Az, the dragon shifter’s keeper, it’s time for them to move out of the basement and into rooms of their own. Being the owner’s brother has some perks and Pirou has renovated their rooms to include everything that could make a dragon shifter and a master happy. With a place of their own, Az and Drill are free to explore each other and their special relationship.

The slavers who first stole Az still want the dragon they lost, though, and when they attack, it exposes Az and Drill to the rest of the residents at the Old Tavern Club, including Drill’s brother and club owner Drongo. Can Az and Drill survive the exposure?

Book Review

What a cool idea to have a shifter rescue hidden away in a BDSM club. While it’s sad that such a thing is needed in this world, it’s good to know that someone as nice as Pirou, who works for the owner, is around to watch out for those who need help. And in this first novella of the ‘Shifter Rescue’ series, Sean Michael has come up with what must be one of the most unusual kind of shifter: a dragon.

Drill owns three golf clubs and makes good money. He is a wolf-bear hybrid shifter, so when he gets called in to help Pirou manage his newest project, he is ready to deal with another shifter. The Old Tavern Club may be owned by his brother Drong, but Drill is clearly involved. What he finds is a dragon, and he is floored. Dragons are rare, and when Drill begins to get to know Az, he is thrilled to find out all kinds of new and interesting things. One of them is that Az is extremely sensual in both dragon and man form, so Drill sets out to teach him about physical pleasure.

Az is scared. He has been poked and prodded, and his training wasn’t successful, and he hates darts (tranquilizers). But Drill smells good, and he feeds Az meat and berries, Az he decides to explore. What he finds is a “keeper”, something every dragon only dreams of having. Az encounters a lot of new experiences in this story, and I loved watching him find out more about his new reality with Drill.

If you like stories where shifter species mix, if two men experimenting with their physical attraction and different ways of looking at things sound interesting, and if you’re looking for a tale that is as hot and sweet as it is fascinating, then you will probably like this short story.

I’ve been looking forward to more adventures of newly minted dragon keeper Drill and the adorable, if somewhat shy, dragon shifter named Az. They only barely began to explore their new relationship in the previous story, but in ‘Claws’, they are moving from the basement where Az was kept into new rooms on the top floor. It takes quite a bit of Drill’s powers of persuasion to get Az to move – Az still remembers the slavers who caught him all too well and is less than willing to leave the safety of the basement at the shifter rescue.

Drill, who is a bear-wolf shifter hybrid, is determined to get Az to their new rooms safely. With a mix of promises of what they can have up there that is not available in the basement – things like sunlight, a view, and a tub for Az to bathe in - and the reassurance that he will kill anyone trying to harm Az, he finally manages.

Az is curious about their new rooms, and once he is over his fear sets out to explore. His reactions to everything new he finds are funny and cute, and once he figures out what a “play room” is for, he is all about learning the rules for the games Drill wants to teach him. As a new sub, there are lots of experiences to explore, and Az’s natural curiosity stands him in good stead. And when the bad guys catch up with him, Az is ready to defend what is his.

If you liked Az and Drill in the previous story and want to see what kind of D/s they are into, if the sensual side of BDSM is your thing, and if you’re looking for a read that is as sweet and hot as it is fun, then you will probably like this short story.
