Book Review

First in what looks to be an exciting new series, ‘Secret Cravings' is set on a parallel Earth that looks and feels a lot like ours – except for the fact that shifters are well known, if not always welcome. There is a royal family on the run, an evil opponent threatening all their lives, various types of shifters, magik, a coming war – in short, everything necessary for a great adventure story. And this first one started the series with a bang.

Gabriel has no idea what is going on with him, and when he asks an old man in a bookstore for a book he thinks might help him figure it out, Gabriel’s world changes forever. Apparently he is a panther shifter, the oldest son of a royal family from a faraway land, and he has three brothers he has never met. It is hard enough to get used to being a shifter, but finding and protecting his brothers is even more important. So Gabriel sets out on a quest to find them.

Chayton is a falcon shifter, rejected by his family because he is gay, and proud owner of a motorcycle shop. He is also a bad boy and a pretty dominant person – but I digress. Chay has been friends with Dom (Gabriel’s younger brother by four minutes) for years and is familiar with shifting and the shifter world. He becomes Gabriel’s teacher in all things paranormal and doesn’t hesitate to help Gabriel for even a second. After all they are mates, and mates support each other.

If you like exploring an imaginative new shifter world, if you want to watch two men meet because of Fate but need to decide if they want to stay together due to love, and if you’re looking for an exciting read with lots of mystery, surprises, revelations, and great characters, then you will probably like this novella. I definitely look forward to the second volume in this series!
