Sometimes finding, and holding on to, the man you love, takes more effort than others. This story is about just such a case. Skylar, a nurse, and Trevor, a police detective, keep running into each other, are clearly very interested, but it just never seems to be the right time.

The attraction between them is immediate when Trevor ends up in hospital and in Skylar's care. But Trevor isn’t quite ready to start a new relationship after the last disaster ended. Skylar has had his share of disastrous boyfriends, so he can relate, even though he is sorry. Interestingly, they keep running into each other, but everything and everyone seems to be against them getting together. And when they finally do? Skylar's mother has a stroke and he needs to move away to take care of her and his father for a few months.

Luckily, Trevor is about as persistent as legally allowed and tries one last time after Skylar returns. It's not exactly "third time lucky" for them, I lost count on about try four, but they don’t care. And when it finally does seem to be the right time? Their one night before was hot, but this reunion, and what follows, is way hotter!

If you like stories about lots of missed opportunities before the guys get it right, if you enjoy reading about professional men who have careers that interfere on top of everything else, and if you believe that persistence is as crucial as fate in determining people's happy endings, then you will probably like this short story.
