Book Blurb

Radley Middleton is a down to earth kind of guy. His love life, though, is non-existent, and lately, the dreams he’s had for years no longer seem to be just dreams.

The day he found the mirror was the day everything started to change. In its reflection he catches glimpses of other men from different eras. And his dreams grow stronger.

Curious about what’s going on, Rad investigates and learns of a terrible tragedy in which he may play a part. But if Rad manages to change the course of history and prevent the century-old tragedy, will he destroy his own chance at happiness?

Book Review

This is a nicely scary variation on the idea that mirrors are more than flat panes of glass we use to see our reflection. The idea that they are gateways into other dimensions, a different time, or even other worlds has always fascinated me. ‘Through a Glass Darkly’ takes a look at the potential power of mirrors, or at least, one particular and somewhat creepy part of what they might be able to do. The discovery Rad faces once he has bought an antique looking glass is revealed slowly, as is the problem he needs to solve. Once he understood what was going on and what was at stake, the tension increased and I held on to my seat for the last third of this suspenseful adventure with an otherworldly flair.

Rad is a regular kind of guy. His only problem is a lack of a love life, and since he is about to turn thirty, he is beginning to see this as a problem. The dreams he has had for years are becoming more disturbing, and when he buys an antique mirror on an impulse, his life will never be the same. Rad begins to see men in the mirror who are not his reflection, men from the past, and it gets worse from there. I can’t say too much without spoiling the story, but let me tell you, it is about as chilling and surprising as they come.

If you like the supernatural, enjoy being scared and yet hopeful for a good ending at the same time, and if you like to follow an author's thought experiments, you will probably like this story. It’s imaginative, full of tension, and might just move you to the edge of your seat. It also has a super-sweet ending that makes everything the characters had to go through worth it – at least I think it does.
