Book Blurb

Milo Blake and his best friend, Jasper Reed, are college freshmen. Their shared passion is cars. Milo will build them, Jasper will drive them. That’s been their post-college plan since they were kids.

Until the day Milo gives Jasper a chance to test drive a new sports car—and Jasper, in a daze, smacks a grateful kiss on Milo’s lips. That single, spontaneous act changes everything. At least it does for Milo. Now, he sees his best friend in a different light.

So, he devises a new plan. He offers Jasper a mutually beneficial tradeoff: the perfect car for Jasper, the full gay experience for Milo. Essential car parts in exchange for a wide range of sensual acts—and zero emotional complications. When Jasper surprises them both and agrees to the audacious proposition, he and Milo are in for the ride of their lives.

Book Review

The proposition that starts the story of college students Milo and Jasper going from best friends to lovers sounds about as ludicrous and crazy as they get: a perfect car and spare parts in exchange for sexual favors. Ridiculous, right? Of course, with something this unlikely I just had to read this book to see how Susan Laine was going to pull this one off. And I have to say I was not disappointed!

Milo plans to build cars after he graduates, but for now, he buys them. With a well-off family at his back, he is able to afford an upscale sports car in addition to the ones he already owns, and he wants his best friend to have it. So, after a surprise kiss, Milo comes up with a devious plan to let Jasper “earn” the car without feeling as though it’s charity. And the currency of choice is sexual favors.

Jasper is not unwilling, but he refuses to let Milo know if he is gay or not. They have never discussed it, and Jasper won’t just give Milo the information for free now that they are jokingly negotiating everything. It’s an added element of suspense, and one that made the fun and tension more interesting, as far as I am concerned.

Then emotions start getting in the way, and Milo and Jasper have their job cut out for them. Their friendship seemed rock-solid, but what is growing between them definitely messes with that. And as young as they are, they have no experiences that help them deal with the fallout. What a ride!

If you like your romances on the wild - maybe even unlikely - side, if two men going from best friends to lovers as they discover a new aspect of each other is your thing, and if you’re looking for a light, entertaining, outrageously funny read that features intricate negotiations, fast cars, and scorching men, then I’m pretty sure you will not be disappointed by this book. Just remember – it’s all good fun!
