When FBI agent Jerry Lee Parker wakes from a coma after a murderous attack on his life, he has no memory of his immediate past. In the blink of an eye, he has gone from having a nearly photographic memory to recalling nothing of the last six months of his life, including his partner and lover, John Flynn. While Lee tries to reboot his past and reconnect with John, there are events at play around him he doesn’t understand. John is keeping secrets from him, secrets that could get them both killed.

Matters come to a head when Lee is hounded to turn over a mysterious artifact, of which he has no knowledge. The two men wind up in a fight for their lives as they risk everything to keep the powerful relic out of the hands of a ruthless killer. In order to protect those he loves, however, John may be forced to make a deal with the devil.

Book Review

I said "Wow" at the end of book two, and the feeling hasn't stopped. Jerry, after having been beaned pretty hard in the head with a baseball bat, now has no memory of the past six months, and sketchy ones of his life before that. They're returning but not in the orderly fashion he would prefer. *grins* For a guy who essentially has an eidetic memory, this is beyond frustrating. So basically, he doesn't remember John, he doesn't remember the artifacts, and that means he doesn't remember that John is now telepathic or that they switched bodies for a while. And, of course, typical for John, he is keeping a lot of things close to his chest.

"Because that was the most bizarre part about this amnesia crap—finding out that Special Agent Hot Stuff was my boyfriend. I know, I know. It still takes me by surprise, every now and then. For the first three days in the hospital, I’d repeatedly told him to shut up and get the fuck out of town every time the subject came up. It was embarrassing."

I have to admit, I was enjoying Jerry's amnesia. Or should I say Lee’s, as when he woke in the hospital to find out his name was Jerome and he went by Jerry, he was incensed to be answering to a cartoon character’s name. Why was I enjoying it? Well, he's back to doing all of that fabulous mental rambling he did before John became telepathic and Lee created the soundproof booth. And some not so mental rambling, i.e., when he meets John's mom's fiancé. Hilarious! Plus, he's a little different as Lee than he was as Jerry, which is hard to explain, exactly. Perhaps it has something to do with missing memories and feeling freer, not to mention not having any preconceived notions regarding who he is and how he behaves.

I'm so angry. Oh, not at this book. This third installment was incredible! No, I'm mad because I don't have book four to jump right into. Argh! I have to wait, and patience has never been my strong suit. 'Truth and Consequences' was absolutely fantastic. I loved that there was more humor, in a sly fashion, than in the previous books, plus the relationship between Lee and John reached unforeseen levels. It was hot, my friends, smoking hot. Trust me. Add all of that in with this incredible mystery, suspense, thriller plot, and Sarah Madison has got another winner.

Oh, I can't wait for the next book. Especially since it looks like John's old serial killer nemesis the Grimm Fairy Tale killer, is back at work. I do love a psychopath, don't you?
